You may recall, we recently began looking for a new furry friend and after looking at online adoption notices, we went on our first doggy date with a potential candidate.
I have a feeling you’re going to meet your animal companion match soon! I’ve seen those social media videos where each dog chooses their person too and I thought they were real!!
Funny you should ask. I also had an iguana at the same time as Napoleon, and he was named Fidel. I think it was influenced by the film DIVA, which my friends and I adored. In it, there is a cat named Ayatollah. So when I got my pet iguana, my friends and I thought it would be funny to name the iguana a similar edgy name, so we came up with Fidel after Castro. Also a high school boyfriend named his cockatiel "Admiral Nelson" to my Napoleon. (Not surprisingly, that HS romance didn't end well. LOL).
Of course, within our family, we had Winston. When we we adopted him, we thought that as British breed of dog (Pembroke Welsh Corgi) that he should have a British name. The kids suggested "Sir Winston Churchill". But as a singer, I remembered the song "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square" and how the Brits pronounce it like "BARK-ley"- which of course, delighted the kids- so he was named "Sir Winston Barkley".
Other than that, my other childhood pet rabbits all had names like: Mugsy & Bugsy and Rocky (colored like rocky road ice cream). My parents named our family dogs.

Yes. ❤️
I love the story about Napoleon. And the photos! Have you named many of your pets historical leaders?

You are so clever with names. Such stately characters!
